Introduction to Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 8 (AD258)

Course Overview

An introduction of the features provided by Red Hat JBoss EAP 8, and how to perform basic management of EAP 8 services.

Introduction to Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform 8 introduces you to the features of Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (JBoss EAP) 8. Through hands-on labs, learn some essential, real-world tasks that a system administrator needs to know to effectively deploy and manage applications on JBoss EAP.

This course is based on Red Hat JBoss® Enterprise Application Platform 8.0.

Who should attend

  • System administrators that manage Java application servers
  • Developers that create JakartaEE applications
  • Automation architects, cloud administrators, and platform engineers that design and automatize the organization’s Java applications infrastructure

Prerequisites

  • Basic experience in Linux is required, or completion of the Red Hat System Administration I (RH124) course
  • Basic programming concepts related to Java, and JakartaEE/JavaEE specifications is required, or completion of the Red Hat Application Development I: Programming in Java EE (AD183) course
  • Basic JBoss EAP administration experience is required
  • Basic Red Hat OpenShift or Kubernetes experience is required, or completion of the Introduction to OpenShift Applications (DO101) course

Course Objectives

Impact on the Organization

Organizations are striving to migrate their JakartaEE applications to different infrastructures, such as public clouds, or containerized environments. In the cloud era, Java is still one of the most used programming languages in the enterprise, and JBoss EAP has evolved to enable organizations to run Java workloads everywhere, being on a virtualized infrastructure, a bare metal installation, a private cloud, a public cloud, or a containerized environment. This course provides an introduction to the latest Red Hat JBoss EAP features, and presents the options to evolve JakartaEE infrastructures by migrating, refactoring, or redeploying the existing applications to different platforms.

AD258 helps an organization to decide how to evolve its JakartaEE infrastructure by focusing in three areas:

  • The migration and migration tools to move the applications and the application servers to JBoss EAP 8
  • The new Elytron security subsystem
  • Use JBoss EAP on hybrid clouds, with focus on Red Hat OpenShift

Impact on the Individual

As a result of attending this course, you should be able to describe the options for installing and managing JBoss EAP environments on different platforms. You learn to analyze the options to migrate to JBoss EAP 8, and to perform the migration by using the migration tools. You will be able to protect deployed applications and the application server by using Elytron, and to deploy and manage Red Hat JBoss EAP 8 in Red Hat OpenShift.
